Indispensable.  Period.  This astounding compilation represents nothing short of a compelling entrance into this hard-hitting Durant, Mississippi bluesman.  A fierceness infused his vocals, and when combined with his roughhewn yet poised strummed guitar brilliance, he certainly must have stirred the ears of those who witnessed his panache in the South’s juke joints and street corners where he plied his musical trade.  Although frequently coarsely arranged, his blues pieces often embrace immense fury and expressive temperament.  And likewise, while often spontaneous, there can be no refuting his designed gashing chordal blues musings.
